Ever wonder how major recording groups make their music?  Wonder no more!

Recorded years after they started, The Worst came back, ready to make a new album.  "Sadly" only two songs survive from this time.  Preserved, however, from 14 years ago, is perhaps something even less interesting: how The Worst actually made their songs.  Can another album be in their future?  Can they possibly come back, in their 30s and race back onto the music scene?  The answer: No.

But for now, "enjoy" a trip back to 1989, and the basement of a big house that would later flood, destroying all of my treasured childhood possessions due to the thoughtless actions of a bitter, bitter woman.  Oops, getting too personal.  Anyway, here is that lost recording session, broken down into little bite-sized chunks.

Session #1: Sound Check (2:45)

Session #2: Prelude in G# Minor (2:29)

Session #3: Etcetera Revisited (2:28)

Session #4: Kokomo (1:52)

Session #5: Pachelbel (2:11)

Session #6: Opera (0:52)

Session #7: So Very Many Takes (4:11)

Session #8: Dad Dikka Dikka Dad (1:52)

Session #9: Lunchtime (3:02)

Dad Dikka Dikka Dad

(1:52) [S Gaudet/K Paulini]
Paulini: Acoustic Guitar, Vocals
Gaudet: Vocals

Stuck for making a new song, inspiration strikes when Gaudet's Dad tells Paulini to move his car because it's blocking the driveway.  In moving the car, Paulini smacks into the sidewalk curb, causing a neighbor to look over at his poor driving.

Ten minutes later, "Dad Dikka Dikka Dad" is born.  Twenty minutes after that, the song is recorded.
Dad Dad
You are my Dad
You're wonderful to me
Play me a song
On this guitar
And bounce me on your knee

Dun dun dikka dikka dun
Dun dikka dikka dikka dun
    dun dun
Dun dun dikka dikka dun
Dun dikka dikka dun dun dun

Dad Dad
You are my Dad
Won't you pass the brie
Drive me around
In your big red car
Go across the street

Dad dad dikka dikka Dad
Dad dikka dikka dikka Dad Dad
     Dad
Dad Dad dikka dikka Dad
Dad dikka dikka dikka
Dikka dikka
Dad

You hit the curb
With your car
it wasn't a pretty sight
The neighbors came out
Of the house
To give a big old shout
It was such
An awful fright
A terrible ol' night
But still you will
Be my Dad
I think that you're all right

Dad dad dikka dikka Dad
Dad dikka dikka Dad
Dad Dad dikka dikka Dad
Dad dikka dikka dikka Dad

Dad Dad
You are my Dad
You're wonderful to me
Play me a song
On this guitar
And bounce me on your knee

Dikka dikka Dad

OK.  Take your age.  Now multiply it by 365.  Got the number?  Probably not, you're just reading this and seeing what the next sentence says.  But if you HAD done it, you'd get a number pretty close to 1,000,000.  Or something like that.  I didn't exactly do the math either.  The point is, it's really big.  That number is ALSO the number of lunches you've probably eaten in your lifetime.

Now, how many songs about lunch have you written and recorded?  If you're the average person, the answer is zero.  But you probably came up with some joke answer like "3" just to be funny.  You're so clever, aren't you?  Go ahead, ruin the punchline.  Yeah, good work.  Thanks.

OK.  Well, the point is The Worst wrote this final song about lunch.  Enjoy it.  And why not eat some lunch while you're listening to it?
You know when I wake up
I eat breakfast
But then I like to do something
And then I
> Then what?
I like to eat lunch!

Chorus
Lunch  Oh I like to eat
Lunch  Oh I think it's neat
Lunch  It's my favorite meal
Lunch  What a good deal Neil

Lunch is good
Lunch is great
Lunch I go to satiate
Lunch is neat
Lunch is cool
Lunch is the only meal that rules

Lunch  Oh I like to eat it
Lunch  Eggs I like to beat it
Lunch  When my tummy calls
Lunch  To the lunch hall

The lunch hall
Lunch hall
Lunch hall
I'm gonna go get some food man
Oh great   This is great
Oh I love the food here
Oh they just serve lunch
That's all they do
Lunch  All right
Lunch hall

Chorus

Then when lunchtime is over
I just wait
And after I have supper
And I sleep
And have breakfast again
I say it's time
It's time
It's time
It's time   For lunch
Woo hoo
Yeah
Cool man

Chorus x2

Mmm
Burp
