8/19/10 In case you missed our meeting yesterday, I proposed to our Exec Council - and then to the Troupe as a whole that we work to change our culture from individual competition to collaborative competition. The Points List is a thing of the past, and the pretty colors and ranking of Thespians by points is now gone. Instead, there is now a Hall of Champions that celebrates those hard-working students who pass the 50- and 100- point threshold (and earn those fancy trophies at the end of the year!) Individual points will still show up on individual pages for those people who are curious. : ) I've also started up a Troupe Achievements game that I think will be fun, and help everybody to realize that EVERYone has the opportunity for impact on how well our troupe does, with one Troupe score that everyone this year shares. Check it out! Both changes were approved wholeheartedly by Sarah, Garry & Vince. And the changes were then approved unanimously by Troupe members at the meeting. In other news, Mr. Phillips from TV Production has agreed to help us screen all of the film entries this year, and to choose the Film Finalists, which is very cool. Finally, we now have an online calendar! Never miss an audition or rehearsal date again! Dates will fill in as rehearsal schedule and deadlines are created for upcoming events. 8/17/10 Troupe meeting tomorrow! Big changes coming ahead. We're flip-flopping the One Acts and the Spring Play. We're not calling it the One Acts. The Film Festival in ... May? Whaaaaat? District One Act competitions are at OUR school? Also, it's the end of the Points List As We Know It (and I feel fine). Is it true that Sarah has crazy Fundraising Ideas and Vince is making fancy professional Publicity Posters for our Events? Club meetings during school instead of after school? End-of-meeting Appreciations? Google Calendars? And what are "Troupe Achievements"????? If you're reading that and going, "OMG my head is spinning SO FAST" then you need to attend the Troupe Meeting tomorrow (Wed 8/18) from 2:00p-3:00p! All will be revealed, all will be de-mystified! 8/13/10 The meeting for Wednesday, August 18th is confirmed. ALL THESPIANS MUST ATTEND! It'll be chock full of super cool information about the upcoming year that you WON'T WANT TO MISS. 8/8/10 I'd like to thank all of the Thespians who volunteered so much time and energy to film and host the 9th Grade Academy Orientation. I know it cuts into your personal time, and I think we really made an impact. Nice job! I am getting really excited about our upcoming season, and think it's going to be a great year for our Troupe. I'll be meeting with our Exec Council on Monday 8/16 after school, and then I'm planning on a Troupe Meeting on Wednesday 8/18. That is subject to change - I'll be learning next week what all of my mandatory meetings will be, so the days might conflict with Faculty or Department meetings. So ... pencil those into your calendars, and I'll let you know for sure as soon as I know for sure! Thanks again! 8/1/10 UPDATE: Garry is practically done with the editing. He's adding in titles this weekend for our Dress Rehearsal. It'll be lots of fun. Thank you for all your hard work, Garry! Also, for those of you taking an Acting class next year, it looks like Acting 1 will be 3rd period, and Acting 2 & 3 (combined) will be 1st period. That's subject to change, of course, up until the first day of school - but it's very likely to stay that way. 7/29/10 Good news for those of us hosting the 9th Grade Academy Show on Tuesday, August 3rd! Skip breakfast, cause we're going to start at 8:30 instead of 9:30 ------- IHOP is bringing us free breakfasts before we start! Yowza!!!! 7/27/10 I hope everyone's enjoying their Summer Break! Next Monday, we'll have our Dress Rehearsal for the 9th Grade Academy show. Garry's written to me, letting me know that the editing is going smoothly so far. Please save your black & white "Proud to Be a Thespian" t-shirt for the Tuesday live show, if you're coming. It should be a lot of fun! Thank you very much to everyone giving up some of their lazy summer days to help out some new students. I appreciate it! 7/14/10 What a great filming day! Thank you very much to Garry, Vince, Kelsey, Sarah, Mary, Jonathan, Carl, Alyssa, Holly, Iain, Caitlin, and Chrissy who gave up a day of Summer Break to come film. It was a wonderful day with a billion costume changes and some really memorable scenes. Extra special thanks goes to Garry Cohen, who has the big job of editing everything together.
