3/8/10 Film Festival nominees are now announced! It was really close this year, with quite a few successful comedies fighting for only three slots on the five-movie roster. In the end, I chose three which typified very different kinds of comedy approaches. THANK YOU to every one who entered this year's Film Festival. It was a pleasure watching all of your films. Nominees can pick up their free passes when tickets go on sale April 19th! Catch the show at 1:00p and 7:00p April 22, 2010! 3/5/10 Miss Taylor and I watched the movies submitted today. I stayed until after 6pm watching and taking notes. THANK YOU to everyone who has entered the contest! The Media Center was having trouble publishing movies on CDs (instead of DVDs) and a couple of computers were stripping soundtracks off the final copies. It's a problem that can be fixed, but the Media Center ran out of time in what they were able to actually publish. Since a big part of the problem was an English class which was using all of the editing computers - that's something that I recognize as "out of your control." I'll be accepting those movies on the Media Center computers on Monday 3/8. I think that in the interest of fairness to all groups who may have had their own technical difficulties - and published their movies to meet the deadline, perhaps incomplete or below the quality they'd like - that it's in our contest's best interest to accept any re-edits of any movies. I want everyone to feel that they've each got the same finish line. If you would like to touch up a soundtrack, or edit a clip, I'll accept your movie entries up through Monday 3/8. ALSO : Congratulations to the new Drama 1 cast of "13 Ways to Really Screw Up Your College Interview!" It's going to be great to work with you on your first WCHS performance!! I'll have casts and everything posted soon. 3/1/10 States Competition Schedule has now been posted! Thursday 10:59a Melissa Reichert (Monologue) Friday 9:35a Sarah Hudak (Solo Musical) 1:12p Tori Musco (Publicity Design) 2:15p Alex Reuille (Monologue) 3:00p Sarah Hudak (Scene Design) Saturday 11:13a Lindsay Hail (Monologue) 1:30p Letourneau, Musco & Cohen (Ensemble Acting) 2/28/10 Casts for the Acting 1 and Acting 2 & 3 One Acts have been drawn up, and will be announced in class on Tuesday, March 2nd. Woo hoo! 2/25/10 Signups for Thespian A/V club are here! Sign up in Room 229 if you'd like to geek out in the Media Center after school and convert classic Film Festival entries onto our Space Age brand new 1TB hard drive. Revel in the amazingness that were the movies of years past, and help build an archive that will be a legacy gift to Thespian generations in the future. Miss Taylor will be holding auditions for "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" in Room 307 for all Drama 1 students and any who auditioned for "Arsenic & Old Lace" back in the Fall and didn't get a part. Auditions will run from 2:00-3:00p. This is a short One Act that should be pretty fun! Pick up audition materials in Room 229 from Mr. G. 2/23/10 After taking a rare sick day, and sleeping for 14 hours, I am feeling much MUCH better. Hey, review copies of "Starjump 2" are available for Thespians in the Drama Room. Why not drop by and check out what will be a film spectacular??? If interested, drop by for auditions on March 11, 2010. I'm looking for lead parts, minor parts, Martians who get killed in one laser blast, and oodles of tech work on costumes, set and props. Don't miss it! 2/15/10 Plays for the Spring One Act 2010 are now announced! Thank you to Lindsay, Chanel and Tori who helped come up with this year's list. Drama 1 : "13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview" by Ian McWethy Acting 1 : "How to Succeed in High School Without Even Trying" by Jonathan Rand Acting 2 & 3 : "4 A.M." by Jonathan Dorf Instead of a Thespian One Act this year, we will have a States Showcase of the 5 performance events that are advancing to States in April. We are making the Thespian Movie BIGGER this year to accommodate a bigger cast, and have big plans for set, costumes, props and music - so consider "Starjump II" to be this year's Thespian One Act. This WILL be a big production; we're just filming it! NOW HIRING : Looking for a Spring One Act Stage Manager, Light & Sound Designer, Makeup Designer, Costume Designer, Props Designer, Set Designer. See Mr. G in the Drama Room by Friday February 19th if interested! Been gone for a while? Check the Past Update Archives! |
